Watching the play “Puteri Gunung Ledang: The Musical (PLGM) Season 3 on Saturday 7.2.09 at Istana Budaya brought alive this piece of Malay legend normally learned in school by some of the upper secondary students of RPX and thus it helped them to understand better the story line. The modern production techniques also awed the lads as it transformed this ancient legend of the time of Majapahit and Melaka Sultanate into a lively musical play comparable with those produced overseas.
Again for many it was a first outing for the RPX lads to our own Istana Budaya or Palace of Culture which has been listed as among the Top Ten list of most sophisticated theatres in the World. The building’s architecture and interior décor is impressive and is based on the architectural design of a Malay house with its various blend of Malay culture.
RPX lads and also children from 7 other homes were fortunate to watch this play. We again wish to record our sincere thanks to Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Teh Hong Piow, Founder and Chairman of Public Bank and also the Bank’s Top and Senior Management for so kindly sponsoring and coordinating the attendance of the various homes to this inspiring theatrical presentation.
